How to get out of a reading slump.
Reading slumps are the worst!!! Aren't they?? I personally hate them. Given a choice I would rather be reading all the time... but, unfortunately that is not always the case. These slumps can be brought forward by anything... be it a change in your schedule or the last book you read was either so good that nothing seems to compare for the moment or that it was so boring and dragged out that it has put you off to reading for the time. Whatever the reason might be one thing is for sure, we all hate them because let's be honest, we have like a thousand books in our tbr and we want to get to all of them as soon as possible. So, for this purpose only i have compiled a few ways that help me get battle a reading slump... hope they work for you too.
1. Pick up a book you already love.
Picking up an old favorite always works for me. You already know what is going to happen so you can enjoy the story without rushing to the end. A few of my favorites include Harry potter, Pride and Prejudice and mysteries of Sydney Sheldon.
Schedule a time where your only job is to read. This helps when our daily life gets demanding and we can't seem to carve time out for reading.
3. Try a reading challenge.
It doesn't have to be a big challenge. Its only purpose is to keep you motivated enough to finish a book. Start by reading one book a week or maybe month, according to your reading speed.
If you do not want to reread than picking up an unread book from an author you already love can be just the thing that you need. This way you would be sure that it would be rewarding and since you are already in tune with the reading style it wouldn't take a lot for you to get into it.
Short books can be rewarding because they give you a sense of accomplishment in a short period of time.
8. Try watching some booktube videos or read some book related blogs.
People taking about books!!! What can do wrong??
9. Try buddy reading.
Get a friend to read a book with you. This way you can both motivate each other to finish it, and also after you are finished you can compare notes and talk about it for hours!!
10. Read one book at a time.
No matter how tempting, don’t be a greedy reader. It’s intimidating and makes the whole process seem tough. Instead, try focusing on one story at a time, removing the option of switching to another book if you hit a rough patch.

11. Try an audio book.
If you can't seem to be able to focus on reading try listening to an audio book.
12. Pick up a genre you don't normally reach for.
Maybe you are just bored by the same format of a story constantly repeating itself? If that seems to be the case, try a genre you do not normally read.
13. Go slow... Don't make it a task. Try enjoying it.
In the end, we read because we love reading. So, if it's not happening don't force it. It's gonna happen eventually.
